Viet A Bank Launched DUET System
Vienna/Ho Chi Minh City (11.9.2009) - Vietnam Asia Commercial Bank (Viet A Bank) successfully launched its smart card payment solution, Advance Card, based on BGS’ DUET technology platform.
Viet A Bank Advance Card product portfolio is already in use at supermarkets, retail shops, fast food chains, petrol stations, and distribution networks. The bank has currently made available services such as utilities payment, home banking (account opening at home, at home top-up), etc. for its customers. Future business cases include microfinance services, student cards (for library activities, grades, etc.), and hospital cards.The launch event was hosted by Viet A Bank at the New World Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, in presence of Mr. Bui Quang Tiên, Head of Payment Department - State Bank of Vietnam and Mr. Ho Huu Hanh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Branch - State Bank of Vietnam.
As CEO of VietABank, Mr. Pham Duy Hung stated in his address: “This project represents a significant innovation for the banking and commercial sector under the guidance of the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam on the path towards a nationwide cashless payment infrastructure.”
Juan Vetere Arellano, VP Business Development, emphasized the socio-economic relevance of this project: “By selecting the DUET Multifunctional Smart Card Platform, Viet A Bank has now championed the domestic payment initiative in the Republic of Vietnam. Finally, as part of its long term Corporate Social Responsibility program, Viet A Bank plans to work with Microfinance Institutions supporting the poor and low-income segment of the population increase and stabilize their incomes, build assets, and strengthen their powerful, but often untapped, entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to many years of productive work together with Viet A Bank within the domestic financial services market.”
Maily Nguyen, Vice President, Consumer Banking stated: “From the basis of the BGS’ DUET System, we are going to differentiate VAB from other banks in Vietnam through providing the various business cases and flexible applications that enrich the way organizations are doing business and revolutionize cards usage.”
